The Great Undoing (Magnolia Parks 4)

The Great Undoing - Jessa Hastings

my review : ✮✮✮✮

How do you review the fourth book in a series? I don’t think you can, so let me tell you about the series as a whole!

The Magnolia Parks Universe is a delicious, addictive, saucy world. The wealth, power, & glamor is unmatched. Imagine if Gossip Girl was set in London, but everyone’s even more beautiful, more wealthy, & more dangerous.

This series is unique in that books 1 & 3 focus on Magnolia Parks, and books 2 & 4 focus on Daisy Haites. The way this story is told may drive some people nuts (the endless footnotes, the detail in which every outfit is described), but I have had a total ball reading this series. These books scratch some itch in my brain, and I can’t quit them. I am fundamentally against describing any book as a guilty pleasure, so I will just say this book is a pleasure.

Thoughts on this book in particular: I LOVED! My favorite of the bunch. I much prefer Daisy’s books to Magnolia’s books (I find the whole Magnolia/BJ thing exhausting at times). Daisy is such a freaking badass I spent the past week pondering what I wanted more- to be Daisy or to marry her brother. One way or another, I want to be a Haites.

I’ve heard some conflicting messages on how many books are left in the series, but it seems like we have 2 books releasing this year. l will keep gobbling these up as they are released, but I am dying to know how many books we have until all these characters get the happy ending I want for them.

Some final thoughts: The characters are in their early 20s, but this is not YA, nor is this a BRAD, although book 4 was a little saucier than 1-3. This book is self-published and could probably use another set of editorial eyes on it, but it didn’t distract me. If you are an audiobook listener, the rumor is they are recording the audiobooks right now (I would listen just for the dreamy British accents alone). Books 1 + 2 are on kindle unlimited.

Best paired with Magnolia’s drink, a French 75. I know it’s Daisy’s book, but she’s too busy saving lives to be sipping cocktails.

you’ll love this book if you love:

  • Magnolia Parks series!

  • Gossip Girl

my favorite quote:

“What am I to you?”

“Oh, I don’t know-”

I give her a little shrug, stare straight ahead. Take a long sip before I look over at her.

“Like, just - everything."
