The Note

The Note - Alafair Burke

my review : ✮✮✮

This gripping thriller is all about a prank gone wrong. Three childhood best friends decide to spend a weekend reconnecting in the Hamptons, and during one boozy dinner, they impulsively pull a harmless prank on a stranger who ends up being reported missing the next day.

A quick read that was a twisty whirlwind. I felt like I was constantly on my toes and appreciated how sharp our law professor leading woman was! There was a little too much COVID talk for my taste (I don’t know when I’ll ever be able to read about the lockdown), but I understood it was important for the story. (To be clear, this book takes place post-COVID lockdown, but there were enough mentions of it for it to be a thing.) If you aren’t quite ready to revisit a freshly post-pandemic world, I might suggest you skip this one! Otherwise, this was entertaining and kept me guessing until the end.
