Mrs. Nash's Ashes
Mrs. Nash's Ashes - Sarah Adler
my review : ✮✮✮✮✮
I have BUTTERFLIES, people! This is one of those “finish-in-a-day-and-squeal-about-it” books.
This love story was just… perfection. Everything I want in a rom-com: brilliant banter, great writing & pacing, deliciously sexy tension, only one bed, grumpy, brooding hot guy meets eternal optimist, sunshine-y bright woman, clear communication, and secret pining!
Our story follows Millie Watts-Cohen. She is on a mission to reunite her elderly BFF with the woman she fell in love with decades ago. Unfortunately, her BFF has passed away, so Millie is quite literally traveling with Mrs. Nash’s Ashes from DC to Key West. Timing is of the essence as Millie finally tracked down Mrs. Nash’s paramour and learned she’s currently in hospice care, not doing well, and Millie wants to reunite the two before she passes. Unfortunately, when Millie is about to board her last-minute flight to Key West, it’s canceled, along with every other flight in the area. Stuck with no rental cars available, Millie is desperate for a solution. Enter hot, brooding, grump Hollis Hollenbeck. Millie vaguely knows Hollis as he was in the same MFA program as her ex, so she’s not jumping at the chance to road trip with the prickly dude, but she’s desperate and out of options. Watch a totally funny, sexy, heart-string-tugging road trip unfold that will leave you hoping for a flight delay and a sexy seatmate.
Despite the above description of ashes, hospices, and lost love, this story is NOT a downer! It is endlessly hopeful and bursting with optimism.
This book made me feel like my belly was filled with pop rocks. One of those books that you can’t put down, but at the same time, you want to read it slowly so you never have to part with the story. Totally pick this book up if you’re in the mood for a really excellent romance.
This is this author’s first book, and I am just totally beside myself with excitement to see what she writes next.
Kit loves a Shirley Temple, and I’ve been dying to try a Dirty Shirley, so that’s what we’re going to pair this story with. A fabulous BR&B gal sent over a video made by @yellowbellykelly that I am going to try to recreate in stories!
