The Cage
The Cage - Bonnie Kistler
my review : ✮✮✮✮
If you guys are looking for a thriller that is gripping and propulsive but won’t keep you up at night, look no further! This is a legal thriller so it’s less “things that go bump in the night” and more “rifling through confidential documents”.
This story starts out in a high-rise building on a Sunday night. Two women working for different divisions in the same company are working on the weekend, and both head out at the same time. As soon as they get on the elevator, it breaks down, and by the time it’s back up and running, one of them is dead. I think you should go in blind, so I will leave it there.
My favorite thing about the story? How SMART the leading woman was. It made me realize how that’s not always the case in these thrillers (or, if the lead is super smart, she has some glaring blind spot that, as the reader, you just know is going to be an issue). She was smart and savvy, and watching her navigate this disaster was intoxicating. #TeamShay all the way
I found the pacing excellent, the plot totally gripping, and the story totally satisfying.
My only gripe with this book was most definitely a personal problem; at times, I found all the legal jargon a bit over my journalism-major head. I googled a few terms to make heads or tails over what the hell was going on. But don’t let that deter you! If I can figure out what’s going on, anyone can!
you’ll love this book if you love:
