Fourth Wing

Fourth Wing - Rebecca Yarros

my review : ✮✮✮✮✮

⚠️warning: this is one of those “resent the mortal man in your life” fantasy books….*

This book is quite simply everything I want in a fantasy…

  • a badass female lead who keeps surviving despite all the odds stacked against her

  • a hot, brooding, dangerous, powerful man who is obsessed with her (honestly, the best enemies to lovers… ever??)

  • steamy scenes (!!!!!!!!!)

  • dragons!!!!!

  • perfect pacing

  • clear COMMUNICATION

  • scenes that had me squealing with excitement/anticipation/nervousness

If you are a fantasy reader… just buy it! Worth the wait for the hardcover to arrive!

If you’re not a fantasy reader, but you’ve always wanted to dip a toe in, this is the book for you. The world-building is done in an easy-to-follow way, and the characters are human, which helped me wrap my head around the story more quickly. By the end, you’ll know if fantasy is for you!

This book is about a war college in the land of Navarre. While attending this college, you can choose between a variety of vocations- healer, scribe, etc. The most dangerous and deadly is that of a dragon rider. This is an elite group of individuals defending the country, and they have the power and the ego to show for it. The training is deadly; only about a third of those who enter rider school make it to graduation. Violet has always known she wanted to follow in her deceased father’s footsteps and be a scribe; it’s what she’s been training for her whole life. It feels like a death sentence when she finds out that her scary, powerful, commanding general mother is forcing her to be a rider. Violet is weak. Her body has betrayed her for her whole life; how could she possibly be expected to bond with a dragon known for incinerating weak links? Violet’s choice has been taken from her, so she knows the only thing she can do is try to survive.

According to the author, this is book 1 in a 5 book series, with the next book released in November. I have obviously preordered, and until then, I will be rereading my favorite chapters (enter chapters here) and stalking fan art.

you’ll love this book if you love:

  • ACOTAR

  • Fantasy romance (…that may ruin human men for you)

my favorite quote:

“There’s nowhere in existence that you could go that I couldn’t find you.”
