Twenty Years Later

Twenty Years Later - Charlie Donlea

my review : ✮✮✮✮

What. A. Ride.

This story was dripping with suspense and was virtually impossible to put down. Alternating timelines and points of view will keep you on your toes (and maybe flipping back a few pages saying, “wait, who is this” .. but that might be just me), and the twists and turns make this a well-told and satisfying story.

This book follows Avery Mason, a famous T.V. host, who sets out to uncover the truth behind a gruesome tale of sex, betrayal, and murder twenty years after the investigation was abandoned in the wake of 9/11. While Avery is focused on producing the best segment for her primetime show, secrets of her own are threatening to rear their ugly head, and they have consequences.

This story is clever and propulsive. A wild ride from the start and a great book to get you out of a rut. Any lover of mystery and crime will gobble this up.

I did find the writing a bit repetitive at times, but I think the author thought that was necessary given all the plot lines and characters- it definitely helps keep everything straight.

Best paired with RUM! Holy moly, I was craving my favorite vacation cocktail, a Mai Tai, while reading this story. P.S. if you have any trips planned to Naples, FL, you need to go to Gumbo Lumbo (located @ the Ritz on the beach) at sunset and order the Mai Tai. It is STRONG, it is DELICIOUS, and it will be the most fabulous way to pass an evening. Thank me later 🍹🍹🍹

you’ll love this book if you love:

  • A thriller that you can’t put down

  • Getting out of a book slump.
