The Blonde Identity
The Blonde Identity - Ally Carter
my review : ✮✮✮
The premise of this book is everything. A woman wakes up in the middle of the street in Paris and has no idea who she is or why she is there. Standing over her is the hottest guy she’s ever seen who tells her to run. After piecing together the limited information she has she thinks she’s… a spy? It’s clear her life is in imminent danger and the only person who seems worth trusting is the aforementioned hot guy. They’re on the run! They’re fake married! There’s only one bed!
Sounds amazing, right? I loved the premise, it felt like such a fresh departure from my usual rom coms. The spy element kept the stakes high … I mean if fantasy books have taught us anything it’s that the higher the stakes the hotter the love story! This is totally grumpy/sunshine and the sunshiny leading lady is a bit of a damsel in distress but not in an annoying way and grumpy, brooding, spy obviously is MUSH in the damsel’s hands.
This is a closed door romance which I am not against (some recent closed door romance I loved : Practice Makes Perfect & Hello Stranger) but this book felt tailor made to be a scrumptious B.R.A.D.. The door should have been wide open! The whole premise just has “sexy B.R.A.D.” written all over it doesn’t it! I mean… did I mention only one bed?
This book was super fast and a fun read.
We are pairing this book with the pink lady cocktail. Because our leading woman loves a pink drink and because our leading man could not stop calling her LADY which drove me to the brink of insanity.
