Dark Corners

Dark Corners - Ruth Rendell

my review : ✮✮✮

I had high, high hopes because I really enjoyed The Night Swim by this author, but this was a miss for me. I pretty much can never predict the twists and turns of a thriller, but this book was an exception, which is normally not the best sign! The influencer element of this story felt a bit cheesy to me?

This story is about a man about to be released from prison. He was locked up for a break-in, but the local cops believe he is a serial killer targeting women in the Daytona area for years, but they’ve never been able to tie the crimes to him. As his sentence winds down, he gets one of his first visitors to the prison, Madison Bailey, a hugely popular social media influencer who goes missing hours later. The FBI drags famous true crime podcaster Rachel Krall to Daytona as she may be the only one who can figure out what happened to Madison Bailey.

This kind of reminds me of an episode of Law and Order. It wasn’t for me, but it might be for you! Lots of people are loving it on Goodreads, so check there for some more positive takes.
