Bride
Bride - Ali Hazelwood
my review : ✮✮✮✮✮
*Disclaimer* This is five stars for ME… most of my 5 star reads, I would feel confident pushing into any of your hot little hands and hearing that you love it. This one is more of a personal five-star, so don’t just blindly read it because of my rating! If you love Ali Hazelwood/vampires/alpha males (but not in a toxic way)/*mine*/biting/pointy ears, this will probably be 5 stars for you!
What is there left for me to say about Ali Hazelwood? I love EVERYTHING she does. Like every other book she’s written, this book gave me that kick-your-feet-up-and-squeal feeling. Ali Hazelwood’s book makes me feel the same way the early days of dating feel. The “oh my god, you like me too??” feeling. Typically, Ali writes about women in STEM, but this is her first foray into the world of fantasy. This isn’t your typical fantasy where the intricate world-building will leave your head spinning; it’s very much rooted in the world we live in but with the delicious addition of sexy wolves and vampires. I mean, what more can a girl want? If you’re not a fantasy reader, I wouldn’t totally count this one out. If this is the first fantasy book you’ve read, I wouldn’t say it’s a great indicator of the genre, but damn, is it fun!
Are you debating if this story is for you? Let me make it simple for you… it’s about an arranged marriage between a werewolf and a vampire!! Does that sound like something you’d go gaga over (if you’re like me, YES), or is the idea of fangs and wolves and blood a huge turnoff? Follow your gut, girl!
This book is STEAMY (her steamiest ever, dare I say) and brimming with tension, wanting, humor, and (ALWAYS) smart leading women and just the right amount of danger. This is a single POV, and while I was absolutely foaming at the mouth to get the male POV, I thought the decision to keep it a single POV was brilliant and amped up the tension.
Best paired with Sparkles’ Pink Drink named after this book’s beloved cat, swipe for the recipe! If you want to make a more vampire-themed drink, check out the Vampire Kiss, which I paired with Serpent & the Wings of Night.
