A Season for Second Chances

A Season for Second Chances - Jenny Bayliss

my review : ✮✮✮

This is a cozy, charming, rambling story of love between a woman and her totally endearing small town. We have a bit of romance sprinkled in there but this is really about Annie falling in love with the town of Willow Bay… and herself!

Annie Sharpe's life has hit a bit of a rough patch as her twenty-six-year marriage comes to an end. For the first time in her adult life, Annie can go anywhere and do anything she wants! She finds a short-term lease in a historic seaside home and decides to leave her city life behind for a brand-new beginning. You will fall in love with Willow Bay and the charming house Annie finds herself in. This town reminds me a bit of Stars Hallow (Gilmore Girls) as it is steeped in traditions and many (many, many) festivals.

This was not fast paced which I loved for a cozy weekend read. Reading this was like sipping a hot cup of tea by the window on a blustery day, something you get a lot of enjoyment from doing slowly. That isn’t to say this book isn’t cheeky and funny as well, Annie is a live wire who will make you laugh out loud.

Be warned: this was pitched to me (by the internet!) as a holiday romance and I realize I am presenting it to you as a holiday romance and it IS incredibly cozy but only about 10% of the book occurs during the holiday season.

Annie’s book club loved their spiked hot beverages, so I would pair this with mulled wine!

you’ll love this book if you love:

  • Gilmore Girls

  • A charming small town and (of course!) some romance
