A Merry Little Meet Cute

A Merry Little Meet Cute - Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone

my review : ✮✮✮

It’s that time of year! Bring in the Hallmark movie-esque romance novels! I have to kick off this review by saying holiday books are on their own scale. We are not going to find the next War and Peace reading festive tales of hot cocoa and kissing under the mistletoe… but who even wants to read War and Peace!? All that to say, the point of reading holiday books is to have a cozy escape that gets you in the holiday spirit.

This story is about a Christmas movie that is being filmed for The Hope Channel (aka the Hallmark Channel). The male lead is a former boy band member and current reformed bad boy Noah Shaw. When the initial female lead gets injured before production, the film’s producer decides to pick Bee Hobbes for the role. Bee is an adult film star trying her hand at more mainstream endeavors, but the Hope network can’t find out about Bee’s other occupation as the network prides itself on being family-friendly. Bee’s secret is kept under wraps until she meets Noah (who happens to be a huge fan), and instantly their attraction is off the charts. Noah and Bee both need the movie to be a squeaky-clean success for their own reasons. Too bad they can’t seem to keep their hands off each other...

This book missed the mark for me, and I just couldn’t get into it. I think I’ve learned I don’t like the insta-love trope. Also, I am totally not a book prude (hello-please see all the BRADs I read for reference), but I felt like this book was a bit… much? I did find it interesting to learn more about the porn industry, but I honestly think The Roommate by Rosie Danan does a better job at that.

I don’t know!! It was deeper than I expected it to be, but I did love the cute town that the book was set in. It was just loooong and wasn’t it for me.

I feel like the next few holiday romances I read are going to be amazing so buckle up, buttercup!!

you’ll love this book if you love:
