The Bodyguard
The Bodyguard - Katherine Center
my review : ✮✮✮
This story is the premise of a B.R.A.D but the plot of a wholesome romance.
We have one of my favorite tropes in this book: fake dating!!! The fact that I have never fake-dated someone truly appalls me.
Hannah Brooks is a bodyguard, yes, she may look like a kindergarten teacher, but she could kick your ass without you knowing what hit you! She loves her job, and it’s her only escape as she’s dealing with the loss of her mom, AND she’s recently been dumped by her dope of an ex-boyfriend (and current co-worker). Hannah is used to jet-setting to exotic locations to serve her clients. She is not happy to learn her latest assignment is set in her home state of Texas, body guarding Jake Stapleton- aka Hollywood actor and former Sexiest Man of the Year. Jake begrudgingly puts up with the need for a bodyguard given one stalker who will not leave him alone; his only demand is that his mom not find out he has a bodyguard, so Hannah has to pretend to be his fake girlfriend around his family. I think you can see where this is going!
Cute banter, a lovely premise, and an adorable story. A true romantic escape.
Why is this not a five-star romance? Because it doesn’t have the banter of Book Lovers or the chemistry of Nora Goes Off Script (both books are 5 stars in my book). Still, a sweet book to lose yourself in.
Best paired with a ranch water because we’re in Texas, baby!!
you’ll love this book if you love:
Fake dating (literally, who doesn’t ??)
A wholesome break from the B.R.A.D’s
