What Does It Feel Like?
What Does It Feel Like? - Sophie Kinsella
my review : ✮✮✮✮
This quick read packs quite a punch. Sophie Kinsella, the author of many of our favorite books (including the Confessions of a Shopaholic series, The Burnout, and Can You Keep a Secret?), received a glioblastoma diagnosis (a form of aggressive brain cancer) in 2022. While this book is fiction, Kinsella shares that it is her most autobiographical work to date. Filled with anecdotes, the story follows Eve, the main character, as she wakes up in a hospital room with no recollection of how she wound up there. Although this is hard to read, I highly recommend it for any Sophie Kinsella devotees (like me!).
This book is both heart-wrenching and hopeful, with a dash of Kinsella’s signature humor. Sophie draws from her experience and somehow crafts a charming narrative that leaves you feeling optimistic. She inspires hope in her readers, and what better gift is there than that?
