The Love of My Afterlife
The Love of My Afterlife - Kirsty Greenwood
my review : ✮✮✮✮
This book was an unexpected delight! WOW! Thank you to the many BR&B gals who urged me to bump this up my TBR list. This book really runs the full gamut of feelings. I laughed out loud more times than I can count (into the wee hours of the night, I nearly gave my husband a heart attack) and burst into tears at one point (some of the subject matter is deeply personal to me, so this is probably just a me thing!). I often worry that I overuse the term “life-affirming,” but I think it’s critical I share with you when a book makes you want to grab life by the lapels and kiss it! Also, how lucky am I to be confronted by so many books that are life-affirming!? An embarrassment of riches!
Delphie just died choking on a burger. When she wakes up in Evermore, a waiting room-type situation for the afterlife, she is mortified that she died eating a MICROWAVEABLE burger. When she meets a very handsome stranger in the waiting room who is there by accident, she is given the opportunity to get a second chance at life (and love!) if she can find him on Earth before ten days are up.
This book is bursting with that British humor I love. Laughter + butterflies… need I say more? Romance lovers will appreciate all the little nods to romance novels throughout this story. In order to enjoy this, you need to be a reader who doesn’t mind a little magical realism in their story! Get on board with the paranormal stuff!
P.S. I think Merrit and I were separated at birth.
