Quicksilver

Quicksilver - Callie Hart

my review : ✮✮✮✮

While nothing is going to fill the Rhysand-sized ACOTAR hole in my heart, this book scratched that romantasy itch and reminded me how fun it is getting lost in these mythical worlds. If you’re new to fantasy, I recommend you start with either Fourth Wing or A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) series. If we share the same romantasy taste (you LOVE ACOTAR, Blood & Ash, Serpents, & Fourth Wing), I think you’re going to love this one as the romance is steamy, the stakes are high, and the leading lady is a badass.

This story follows the same framework as a lot of my favorite fantasies: a human girl possesses some sort of special skills, meets a tall, dark, hot-as-hell mythical creature, and their adventure begins. Did this book sometimes feel a bit like a poor ACOTAR imitation (poor being relative, ACOTAR is the gold standard, so everything else pales in comparison)… maybe… but I still couldn’t put it down. I quite literally couldn’t put it down… one night, I found myself staying up until MIDNIGHT! On a school night! I will admit the quicksilver of it all went over my head, and I had a hard time following a few of the details of this world. But, the romance was good enough for me not to care about any fantastical elements that were making my head spin.

Long story short: if you need a slow burn (when it burns - it BURNS) enemies-to-lovers fantasy that will keep you warm at night as the temperatures plummet, you’ll love this one.

Best paired with Kingfisher’s Kiss 🩸 (recipe adapted from @noshingwiththenolands)

you’ll love this book if you love:

  • ACOTAR

  • Romantasy

  • Slow burn & enemies-to-lovers (!!)
