The Secret Life of Albert Entwistle
The Secret Life of Albert Entwistle - Matt Cain
my review : ✮✮✮
Albert! I love you!!!
This book will pull at alllll of your heartstrings—heartbreaking, heartwarming, life-affirming… basically a roller coaster of emotions.
Our dear Albert has been a postman his entire life, and up until this point, his work has pretty much been the extent of his life. Albert keeps to himself and loves his routines. He is knocked sideways when he learns his mandatory retirement is approaching. Albert starts wondering what life will look like after he retires, and his fear and uncertainty lead him to make some big changes and start really living.
This slow, cozy, heartwarming book was a pleasure to read. I was a total ignoramus when it came to LGBTQ history. I understand this book is just one man’s (fictional) story, but I found it to be incredibly eye-opening. I heard this is a good audiobook!
Best paired with a cup of tea!

my favorite quote:
“But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that trying to be anyone other than yourself will never make you happy. Any road, how do you know people won’t like you if you don’t ever show them the real you?”
