The Boyfriend
The Boyfriend - Freida McFadden
my review : ✮✮✮
creepy in the perfect way for spooky season but not so creepy that I couldn’t sleep at night. The whole story reminded me a bit of the Scream movies in that they have an over-the-top slasher vibe with some bumbling main characters and some dark humor, but I found it to be entertaining nonetheless.
Sydney is in her early 30s, living in NYC, and just wants to meet The One. We meet her after another terrible date—the worst one yet—that leaves Sydney rattled. Then, one of Sydney’s neighbors is brutally murdered, and as the police investigate what happens, it seems like a serial killer is running loose in NYC, one who dates his victims before he kills them...
I will leave it there to avoid any spoilers! This story is told via two POVs and two timelines.
When you read this, please comment if you guessed the killer correctly. I was WAY off!
When Sydney picked up a bottle of tequila for her date one evening (a move that really made me LOL), I knew I had to pair this book with something tequila-based. This twisty thriller is best enjoyed with a TWIST on apple cider: the apple cider margarita! Recipe by @serenagwolf 🍎🍏
