A Bit Much
A Bit Much - MS Sarah Ashley Jackson
my review : ✮✮✮✮✮
Aren’t all BR&B gals considered at some point in our life “a bit much”? Our enthusiasm about the last thing we read, how voraciously we can consume a book we love, our desire to stop and savor (and celebrate!!) the light and fluffy?
This book of poetry is for people who typically don’t buy books of poetry. I don’t mean that in a snobby way; I am not a person who buys poetry books! Her work is beautiful and accessible, and she will make you laugh, cry, and maybe say a little, “hell yeah.” Life-affirming stuff!
These poems buoyed. They made me want to nestle into my own body a bit more, be grateful for all I’ve been through, and be comfortable with who I am. A reminder to focus more on making myself happy and less on making everyone else happy.
This is a wonderful book for anyone ( I picked one up for each of my girlfriends) but I imagine this will bring comfort & levity to someone going through a difficult time. I know that when I was grieving, I would have wanted this colorful little book of poetry before any book on grief. This book is the permission I need to (continue to) be a bit much. I hope this book sells millions of copies and Lyndsey Rush gets wildly famous because it brings me joy to think that there can be so many people like us out there. All taking comfort in her words. Getting excited for the little things! And big things!!!
Best paired with a spicy marg followed by you exclaiming, “This is the best margarita I’ve ever had” (IYKYK).
you’ll love this book if you love:
Life-affirming poetry!
