Swan Song
Swan Song - Elin Hilderbrand
my review : ✮✮✮✮
This book was, to me, everything I love in an Elin Hilderbrand novel. You will be completely transported to the island 30 miles off the coast. Detailed descriptors of all of life’s luxuries, from fine linens to buttery lobster rolls. Multiple POVs, drama, and a bit of debauchery. I always close her books looking at life with rose-colored glasses (eat a meal after an EH novel, and it will totally make you reframe the food) & some expensive item I want to indulge in (after this book, it was Amalfi 🍋 lemons).
This is allegedly Elin’s last novel set in Nantucket; I say allegedly because I hope in a few years, she’s going to bring us another gorgeous and addictive book set on the island. This is a standalone novel (don’t let Goodreads fool you!), but Elin says, “To make it more fun, read The Castaways and The Rumor.” Swan Song starts with a bang; the $22M house in Nantucket that was just purchased earlier this year by the enigmatic & ostentatious Richardson couple has burned to the ground, and their personal concierge has disappeared from their boat. After reading the first chapter, you’ll be asking yourself, “Who are the Richardsons, and what the hell happened this summer!?”.
I loved revisiting the island and some of my favorite characters. Did I leave this book wanting a bit more? Yes, but I feel that would have been the case no matter how this book went, as I am not ready to part with these characters or Nantucket!
If you’ve read this book, I think we can all agree that we wouldn’t turn down an invitation to one of Leselee Richardson’s parties. Inspired by her extravagant cocktails, I’ve decided to use a cocktail inspired by her summer soirées. Swipe for recipes!
