The Younger Wife

The Younger Wife - Sally Hepworth

my review : ✮✮✮

I am a huge Sally Hepworth Fan, I just love the way she writes a thriller. The Mother in Law and The Good Sister are two of my favorites. She knows how to write a provocative slow burn that keeps you on your toes. This story was typical of Sally meaning it is immediately addictive, filled with nuanced and flawed characters, and bursting with chapters that leave you on the end of your seat. The story as a whole I enjoyed, the ending just left me wanting more.

This story is about a picturesque family. Daughters Tully and Rachel are the apple of their father’s eye. Tully is married to a distinguished lawyer and raising two beautiful kids as Rachel owns her own successful bakery. As a family unit, they have been grappling with their mom’s dementia and have just recently moved her to assisted living. When their father suddenly introduces his daughters to his new girlfriend and then reveals they are ENGAGED his daughters are shocked! The new girlfriend is younger than the daughters and their dad is still technically married to their mother! Despite all of this, the wedding planning is set in motion. As catering decisions are made and cakes are tasted, the daughters learn more about secrets their family has kept making it clear there is much more than what meets the eye with this family.

This is a great beach read in that it will hold your attention but won’t ruin your trip (like when I read The Idea of You and cried on the beach). A slow-burn thriller that won’t keep you up at night.

If you haven’t read The Mother in Law or The Good Sister- I highly recommend! I will continue to be first in line for everything Sally writes!
