Darling Girls - Sally Hepworth
my review : ✮✮✮✮
TL;DR: thriller lovers will enjoy this, was too dark for me at times but was very hard to put down.

I could not put this book down! I can’t remember the last time I flew through a thriller like this. I am a fan of Sally Hepworth’s twisty books and this is no exception. This is a super fast read that left me with a sense of dread the entire time reading it. Thriller readers, you know the feeling!
This story is about Jessica, Norah, and Alicia who were foster children raised in an idyllic looking house by foster mother Miss Fairchild. Their upbringing was anything but idyllic and the girls broke away from the home in their early teens. Now, as adults they are forced to return to the town they grew up in as bones were found under the home they lived in. This story is told in two timelines & multiple POVs.
I am not crazy about a thriller where the stories revolve around children, and while I thought the author did a good job at not making this story overly graphic I did have a hard time navigating the darkness. I do think thriller lovers will enjoy the pacing and storytelling in this book. Overall I enjoyed & recommend but be prepared for heavy subject matter. If you’re anything like me, you’ll need a pallet cleanser in the form of a light & fluffy romance after this!
P.S. If you’re new to Sally Hepworth I highly recommend Mother In Law & The Good Sister (that one is my favorite of hers!)
