Only If You're Lucky
Only If You're Lucky - Stacy Willingham
my review : ✮✮✮
This is a moody & atmospheric thriller told through alternating timelines, switching between the Outer Banks & a small college in South Carolina. This is a domestic thriller that kept me guessing until the bitter end.
Our story follows Margot as she struggles through the start of her college career. Having lost her best friend over the summer who was supposed to be her roommate, Margot spends her Freshman year locked in her dorm room and struggling with her grief. That is until the enigmatic Lucy Sharpe approaches Margot and asks her to be the fourth roommate for their off-campus house Sophomore year. Margot finds herself thrust into the friend group, but by the middle of sophomore year, one of the fraternity boys from the house next door has been murdered... and Lucy Sharpe is missing without a trace.
The language and writing were the stars of the show for this slow-burn thriller. I wouldn’t say it’s a thriller with nonstop action, but it’s a more meandering story that drip-drip-drips your information until you’re tangled up in this world and holding your breath to understand what went wrong.
