Blush
Blush - Jamie Brenner
my review : ✮✮✮
When I heard this book was about wine, cheese, and romance novels I thought: “FINALLY I will get a sneak peak into what heaven looks like.“
This book follows three generations of women in the Hollander family as they come to grips with the fact that their stunning family vineyard may be on the brink of collapse. The women come together to try to save the vineyard and their family.
Unfortunately, this wasn’t a hit with me. I felt like it dragged a bit. Also- I didn’t find the characters to be that likable? Maybe I was just in a mood. Let’s chalk this one up to “liked- didn’t love”
I did like the cheese and wine that I was forced to consume while reading this because the book did a damn good job of making you want a creamy brie and a Pinot Noir.
Maybe instead of reading this book you should just follow @themodestcellar for fab wine recommendations 🍷.
If the premise of this book interests you may I suggest Eight Hundred Grapes by Laura Dave? Another family drama set in the fabulous wine world that I couldn’t put down
Best paired with Meiomi, a tried and true Pinot Noir. It’s basic for a reason (because it’s good!)!!!!! ♥️♥️
you’ll love this book if you love:
A narrative that intertwines three generations of women in this family
An unhurried, descriptive story set in an exquisite vineyard
my favorite quote:
“Ever since she was a little girl, Sadie had thought a lot about the written word. She thought about words as she fell asleep at night; she thought about them when she dressed in the morning. She arranged them in her mind like colors on a painter's palette. In her mind, she could make them dance. Words conveyed meaning. Words had power. Words gave everything and asked nothing in return.”
