The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches - Sangu Mandanna

my review : ✮✮✮✮

To me, this book was the MOST lovely, cozy, witchy book ever. It is EVERYTHING I want in a Halloween book. Picture the coziest setting filled with hot tea, cozy fires, sprinkles of magic, and an adorable love story. I found the characters totally lovable, and the story just left me like…. Do you know how it feels when you have a glass of wine in your belly? All warm with stars in your eyes? That’s how this book made me feel.

Our story is about a witch named Mina Moon. She has spent her whole life living in the strict confines of a set of rules dictated to her since birth about how to be a proper witch. The rules get turned on their head when Mina receives a mysterious letter in the mail that says “witch wanted,” - which begs Mina to travel to the remote and mysterious Nowhere House to teach three young witches how to control their magic. This house is filled with the loveliest cast of characters you’ve ever met. Including a very grumpy, handsome librarian/caretaker who is not happy Mina has changed the status quo of Nowhere House. Yes, there is an enemies-to-lovers arc woven into this delightful story- HOORAY!

I just loved and never wanted this story to end! Heartwarming & hopeful, you’ll adore this book if you want to get in the Halloween state of mind without the scare factor.

If you were a fan of The House in the Cerulean Sea (which is fabulous), I think you would adore this. This book is what I wanted The Ex Hex to be (I personally did not love that one and would recommend this one 100x over).

A dreamy Halloween plan: pass out candy, curl up by the fire, and get lost in the pages of The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches 🧙‍♀️ 🎃 👻

you’ll love this book if you love:

  • Feminist revenge fantasies

  • The Ex Hex 2.0
