The Change
The Change - Kirsten Miller
my review : ✮✮✮✮
Warning: you may be consumed with white, hot rage while reading this book. I recommend reading it with a gaggle of your best friends, some sort of cocktail you’ve creatively served in a cauldron, and then putting your heads together to figure out which power you want.
This is the perfect witchy, Halloween, badass feminist book. The contents are DARK so go in cautious. There is a lot of anger and sadness in these pages, but the story is still somehow uplifting, entertaining, and powerful.
Set in a picturesque Long Island oceanfront community, our story follows 3 women; Nessa, Harriet, and Jo. Each woman finds that midlife changes have brought them each their own special powers. When these three women find each other, they know it’s for a purpose. When they find a teenage girl whose body was abandoned on a remote beach, they know they must take action. While the police force wants to write the girl off as a drug-addicted runaway, the women know this is far from the truth and will stop at nothing to ensure justice is served.
I was really entertained by this story. It is a long one with lots of detail that some may find could have been omitted but that I personally loved getting lost in. I adored this book and would highly recommend it!
My only note for this book is: I wish the men suffered more. Is that cold-blooded? Maybe but IDGAF! I think I’m a Harriet.
