Summer Romance
Summer Romance - Annabel Monaghan
my review : ✮✮✮✮
I LOVE the way Annabel Monaghan writes. Her dialogue is always witty, the humor is dry, and the stories leave you hopeful. Reading this was like taking a big gulp of sea air—refreshing, reinvigorating, and life-affirming.
Our story is about Ali Morris, a professional organizer whose life is anything but professional or organized. She’s going through a divorce, her mom just passed away, and Ali is having a hard time keeping things afloat at home. When she meets a dreamy guy at the dog park, she decides it’s time for a light and fun summer romance…
Ali is 38 and the mom of 3, which is a refreshing departure from many romance novels. I loved the wisdom that comes from having a heroine over 35, and watching Ali heal was honestly therapeutic.
I will caution you that if you’ve lost your mom, I might skip this one. This book handles grief beautifully, but I know it can be a hard theme to visit.
This is both a light & fun beach read that touches on the reality of motherhood, divorce, and how your identity changes as you age as a woman. This felt like a real-life love story.
Best paired with an iced cold bottle of sauvignon blanc & chocolate-covered pretzels.
I feel like we’re all going to have a champagne summer!
