Very Bad Company
Very Bad Company - Emma Rosenblum
my review : ✮✮✮
If you have a corporate job and your idea of fun is not reading about fictional people with corporate jobs, I would not read this. LOL! I really rely on my books to be true escapes, so if I were still in the corporate world, I probably would have skipped this because just bringing up a PowerPoint would send me into a tizzy. If you don’t fall into that category and like reading about people behaving badly, you might enjoy this one.
Our story takes place one week in Miami, where Aurora, the buzziest startup around, is having its executive offsite. The eccentric egomaniac CEO who heads the company has a packed agenda for his close-knit group of execs, including revealing that their company is being sold for a ton of dough. It all starts falling apart pretty quickly when one of the executives dies. Part whodunit, part soap opera, this was dishy, fun, and absurd.
This story is told via multiple POVs. We get the POV of everybody on the trip, which I simultaneously enjoyed and had a hard time keeping the characters straight, but I just kind of powered through that. It’s an entertaining and quick read about people who you would never be friends with in real life. It’s not going to top any of my lists for the year, but I didn’t dislike it! It’s a good “pick up if you see it at the library” book.
you’ll love this book if you love:
A story centered around the workplace (a buzzy startup)
