Remarkably Bright Creatures
Remarkably Bright Creatures - Shelby Van Pelt
my review : ✮✮✮✮
I am never eating octopus again 🐙!!!!
This book was an unequivocal delight, one of those life-affirming books that leaves you feeling all rosy. It’s filled with perfectly human characters you will fall in love with and an octopus that will pull at your heartstrings. Despite my ramblings about how lovely this is, this book deals with heavier topics like grief and does so in an exceptional and honest way.
This is a multiple-POV book with one of the narrators being AN OCTOPUS! He will probably be your favorite character you’ve read in a while, so open your mind to the wacky and wonderful!!
Set in the Pacific Northwest, this story follows a 70-something woman as she grapples with the death of her husband and what her sunset years will look like, and a young man who is determined to track down the father he’s never met. This cast of characters contributes to the rich tapestry of people that make up the town of Sowell Bay.
This book is just absolutely lovely, and I can’t believe it’s Shelby Van Pelt’s FIRST!
Don’t make this a movie or TV show; just let it exist as a lovely work of literature.
Best paired with a blanc de franc 🍾
