Daisy Darker
Daisy Darker - Alice Feeney
my review : ✮✮✮
Y I K E S 😱
This thriller scared the crap out of me! Atmospheric & chilling, this book would be a great Halloween-time read.
Things I loved: Locked room mystery, family drama, many twists and turns, no clue who the killer was
What kept this from being a 5-star: It Felt a bit overwritten and long-winded at times. I felt like many of these sentences were written just to be pulled out of the book as quotes, and I found the writing a bit distracting.
After years of avoiding each other, Daisy Darker’s family gets together for Nana’s 80th birthday party in her gothic home on a tiny island that’s only accessible when the tide is out a few hours a day. The family arrives, and at the stroke of midnight, as a storm rages, Nana is found dead. And an hour later, the next family member follows… trapped in this house where someone is killing them one by one; the Darker’s must reckon with their family history as they strive to stay alive.
Despite my critiques, I found aspects of this thriller fresh and unique and would recommend it to anyone wanting to get in the mood for spooky season.
Best paired with the “tequila daisy”: 1/2 ounce lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon sugar, 2 ounces tequila, 1/2 ounce Grand Marnier, and club soda. In a shaker, stir together lemon juice & sugar. Add tequila and Grand Mariner and fill with ice. Shake and strain into a cocktail glass and top with club side to the brim.
