The Last to Vanish

The Last to Vanish - Megan Miranda

my review : โœฎโœฎโœฎโœฎ

This is my ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผkind ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ of ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ thriller ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ: nothing too graphic, suspenseful writing, and the perfect atmospheric setting. My biggest regret is reading this book during the dog days of summer because it really feels like a cozy, crisp fall book. This story made the hair on the back of my neck stand up, but it wasnโ€™t so scary that I couldnโ€™t sleep at nightโ€ฆ to me, that is the recipe for the perfect thriller.

Our story is set in the small town of Cutterโ€™s Pass, which boasts access to the Appalachian Trail. This picturesque community is known for scenic hikes, small-town charm, and a string of unsolved disappearances over the past 25 years. The story follows Abby Lovett, a manager at a very cozy inn; sheโ€™s been in Cutterโ€™s Pass for the last decade but is still considered an outsider among the locals. When the brother of the latest individual to disappear comes to town looking for answers, Abby finds herself drawn into the hunt for the truth and learns how little she can trust the place sheโ€™s called home for the past ten years.

This story was filled with twists and turns that kept me captivated. The most seasoned thriller readers might need a bit more action for this to be a total nail-biter, but this book, to me, was the perfect cozy thriller.

Best paired with a pinot noir as I find all thrillers to cause me to crave red wine immediately.

Cheers!
