None of This Is True

None of This Is True - Lara Love Hardin

my review : ✮✮✮✮

This dark thriller kept me breathless, anxious, and a little bit sick while I devoured it. I love Lisa Jewell's writing style and could think of nothing but this book while reading it.

This story is about two women who are birthday twins, both born on the exact same day at the same hospital. Alix is a popular podcaster living a picture-perfect life with her young family in London. Josie couldn't be more opposite Alix; she's been married since she was 16, and her kids are now in their 20s. Both women meet by chance when they pick the same restaurant to celebrate their 45th birthday. After the initial meeting, Alix runs into Josie outside her kid's school, and Josie has a proposition for her- she wants to be the subject of Alix's next podcast series. Josie claims to be on the cusp of a lot of life changes, and as Alix learns more about Josie's rather strange and complicated life, she's intrigued by the premise. As the women start working together, Alix goes from intrigued to disturbed as she learns more about Josie's life, and before she knows it, Josie has infiltrated Alix's life.

This book put me in a total funk which is a testament to excellent writing. I found the many twists and turns hard to predict and loved that the ending left me with more questions than answers. Don't let the podcasting element deter you; this is a fresh and well-done take on the common thriller trope.

Best paired with a margarita because Alix shares a pitcher with her sisters on a sun-dappled day, and it sounded just divine.

Keeping this review short as I am scared if I say anything more, I will accidentally share a spoiler. Have you read this? What did you think?!
