This book… wow.

Did you like the movie The Beach (hello 90’s Leo DiCaprio, what’s not to love 😍😍)? If so, you will LOVE this.

This was honestly the PERFECT beach read in that it’s quick, fun, a little bit sexy, bat shit crazy, and a total escape - not to mention literally set on a beach🏝.

Our story follows Lux (why can’t that be my name??), who lives in Hawaii with her boyfriend. They are saving every penny they make to go on an epic around the world boat trip, and it seems fate is on their side when two rich college girls offer to pay them in a BIG way to take them to a very secluded island. Lux and her boyfriend need the money. The girls need a vacation spot that has not been instagrammed 1000 times. It sounds like the perfect solution. Until they show up and realize how isolated the island really is……

I mean COME ON. The premise is GORGEOUS.

Why the 3.5?? Because to me this book wrapped up at the speed of sound. It literally left me reeling! I loved The Wife Upstairs and felt that one was a little better. I will still always be eager to read all of Rachel Hawkins’s books and can’t wait to see what she writes next!

Best paired with a daiquiri! But, let’s make the one that they make in the book - just rum and fresh lime juice. Cheers 🌴

P.S. This is evil to say, but I feel like Kat St. John would write the most brilliant book if she stole this premise. If you haven’t read The Lion’s Den or The Siren… do it now!
