The Only Survivors
The Only Survivors - Megan Miranda
my review : ✮✮
Meghan Miranda always does an excellent job of keeping me on the edge of my seat. While the tension and suspense were there, this book was sadly a miss for me!
10 years ago, two vans filled with high school students crashed into a ravine, and only nine students managed to survive the devastation. A year after the tragedy, one of the survivors dies on the anniversary of the crash and the rest of the group decides to meet in the Outer Banks moving forward on the anniversary of the accident to grieve as a group. We meet one of the survivors, Cassidy Bent when the 10-year anniversary of the tragedy is approaching. She’s decided to distance herself from the group this year, as she cannot keep this painful tradition going. But on the day the group is heading up, she receives a text that another member of their group has died. Cassidy decides she has to go to the Outer Banks to once again mourn the unthinkable—and get to the bottom of what really happened….
Incredibly fast-paced, this read demands to be finished in one sitting! I enjoyed the suspense but had a really hard time with the flashbacks of the accident… I literally could not picture what the hell happened. The logistics were so hard for me to envision, it pulled me out of the story. Also… too many characters that I could not keep straight! Both of my gripes could totally be a “me” issue, so if the synopsis intrigues you, definitely pick it up!
I SO enjoy Meghan Miranda as an author; my personal favorite of hers is The Last House Guest. Even though this wasn’t a love for me, I will always be antsy to snag her new releases.
Have you read it? What did you think!!!?
