Oona Out of Order

Oona Out of Order - Margarita Montimore

my review : ✮✮✮✮

What. A. Story! I went into this totally blind, just off a few glowing recommendations and the knowledge that this story revolved around New Year’s Eve. I couldn’t have enjoyed my time with this book more! I couldn’t put it down, and on the off chance I wasn’t reading it, I was thinking about it. This book granted me perspective and has me looking at the new year with fresh eyes.

On New Year’s Eve of 1982, Oona is 19 and spending the night partying with her friends, preparing to take the stage after midnight to perform a song with her band. Oona is ringing in the new year with her boyfriend, whom she adores, and her whole life ahead of her. Except when the clock strikes midnight, Oona is catapulted 32 years into the future. It’s 2014. She’s 51. And she has no idea what the hell is going on. After conversing with a man who claims to be her personal assistant, Oona learns that every year at midnight, she leaps to another year at random and is living life out of order.

Fascinating and utterly confusing at times. Brimming with life lessons and leaving me introspective, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this book.

Best enjoyed with cake and champagne and crossed fingers that you wake up tomorrow and it’s 2024 (or do we even want that? At times, the leaps seemed extraordinary).
