Killers of a Certain Age

Killers of a Certain Age - Deanna Raybourn

my review : ✮✮✮✮

Let me start with the premise because I just freaking loved the idea of this book… a secret organization backed by various governments to kill the evilest people in the world onboards their first all-female team in the 60s; they found the perfect young women and have molded them into deadly freaking badass assassins. We meet these 4 women on their retirement trip, enjoying a little R&R on an incredibly glamorous all-expenses-paid cruise. The trip starts with the ladies reminiscing on past projects and marks and ends with them learning they are the mark and their own organization is trying to get rid of them. It is a kill or be killed situation, and these fierce women realize how much their former employees have underestimated them….

This book reminded me a bit of Oceans 11… if Ocean 11 was about 4 60-year-old women (we can cast George as the eye candy). I found the plot fresh, entertaining, and just plain fun to read. Violent, but I had no issue stomaching it. The friendships were real, and the women kept me entertained. I think this would make for a fun movie.

Best enjoyed with a strong rum punch. They enjoy one in the book, and I swear I’ve been craving it for the past 2 days.

you’ll love this book if you love:

  • Female Friendships

  • Grace and Frankie

my favorite quote:

“Only women are ever called persnickety," Mary Alice said. "Men get to be 'detail oriented.”
