The American Roomate Experiment

The American Roomate Experiment - Elena Armas

my review : ✮✮

(This may be my most controversial review to date, and it pains me to do it.)

I love a forced proximity trope.

I love a fake relationship trope.

I love a slow burn.

I love a friends to lovers.

So what went wrong here for me? I don't know! Maybe I had trope overload?

From the get-go, I couldn't feel the chemistry between these two. I just found myself… not caring? I couldn’t help cringing through this book, and I’m the queen of the cheesy read. I NORMALLY BASK IN MOMENTS THAT MAKE OTHER PEOPLE CRINGE.

I think this one is a "me" problem and not an Elena problem, so don't let this deter you if you have been eyeing this book.

This book is about Rosie & Lucas. Rosie moves into her BFF's apartment when her own apartment literally crumbles on top of her head, and her BFF is out of town on her honeymoon (her BFF happens to be Lina from Spanish Love Deception- cute book!). What Rosie doesn't know is that her friend has already lent her apartment to her cousin Lucas, who Rosie has been stalking on Instagram for the last few months (this is where they lost me). Lucas and Rosie decide to live together in this tiny studio apartment until Rosie can move back to her place. Rosie is also struggling with writer's block as she works on her second romance novel, and Lucas offers to bring her on fake dates for inspiration. I think we can see where this is going! Lucas is only in NYC for a few weeks, and Rosie knows she cannot fall in love with her insta-crush, but the heart wants what it wants…

Have you read this? Do you agree, or am I insane?

P.S. all the 2.5 stars are basically for the shower scene

you’ll love this book if you love:
