Faking Christmas
Faking Christmas - Kerry Winfrey
my review : ✮✮✮
Fake Dating! Enemies to lovers! A cabin in Vermont! What a fun and festive read. The biggest crush I developed while reading this book was on the Vermont Christmas lodge where this family stays for the holidays. Breakfast baskets delivered to the door, a dreamy Hallmark town, mistletoe everywhere, and sledding!! What more could a girl need?
Our story follows Olive, a high school English teacher whose dream night out consists of a bubble bath and a book (I feel like people need to stop getting down on Olive for her favorite pastime because.. same!). Olive’s had a rough year with the passing of her dad, her mom’s abrupt marriage, and the hot but annoying guy who just started working in her department. When Olive finds out her mom’s trying to set her up with her ex during their Vermont vacation, she makes up a boyfriend. The only name she can think of on the spot? Her nemesis: Miles Taylor. However, upon arriving at the lodge, Olive realizes MILES’ FAMILY OWNS THE LODGE. What are the chances? Romantic chaos ensues.
This was super sweet and festive. I am always a sucker for enemies to lovers. I won’t say I felt an off-the-charts chemistry with these two; I didn’t get any butterflies! It is a closed door, but Sarah Adams has proved time and time again that you can write a closed-door romance with tons of tension and chemistry. I should mention Mr. Miles Taylor wears ripped jeans to teach high school English, and you guys know my gripe with men in ripped jeans (it’s not hot, and authors need to stop forcing it on us!). Despite the jeans, Miles was super lovable and endearing. Very crush-worthy. Olive was sweet, but the whole martyr thing drove me crazy. It was a like, not a love for me! The town was a LOVE FOR ME. Does a town like this exist in Vermont!?
