The Wedding Season

The Wedding Season - Katy Birchall

my review : ✮✮✮

Reading Wedding Season during the kick-off to wedding season felt perfectly timed! This was a lovely, meandering story about love, loss, and self-discovery. Our narrator was funny in that British way I just adore.

Freya Scott has her whole life figured out. That is, until her boyfriend of 12 years calls off the wedding the night before they are due to walk down the aisle. Humiliated and heartbroken, the LAST thing Freya wants to do is attend the 7 weddings she has scheduled this summer. She leans on her friends who have crafted a plan: they will give her one “challenge” for each wedding, hopefully distracting her from heartbreak. Freya navigates each outrageous challenge and learns there’s much more to life than her perfectly planned timeline.

I was charmed by this book and found Freya’s group of friends so lovable. I also felt like I need to convince my engaged friends to get married in Dublin and France because those weddings were INCREDIBLE.

Best paired with a glass of champagne and a tipsy toast 🍾

my favorite quote:

“...now he's written himself off the page, which means you have some options. You can wait to see if he pops up later, letting the paragraph waffle on with nothing much happening until he does OR you can embark on the next adventure, ready to greet new characters that enter, experience a change of scenery.”
