The Banker's Wife

The Banker's Wife - Cristina Alger

my review : ✮✮✮

I haven’t read anything like this in a minute and I don’t know why!

A high stakes espionage book that you will tear through in a weekend. I went in totally blind off one of my girlfriend’s recommendations and I am glad I did.

One blustery evening a couple boards a plane and soon after departure they disappear into the Swiss Alps. One of the dissappeared is Matthew Werner, banker at Swiss United. His widow is left grappling with his death the secrets he left behind. I’m talking fast paced! Addictive! Bad ass female protagonists! Greed! Power!

My only disclaimer is maybe don’t read it if you’re in the banking industry… or law enforcement… or if you yourself have an offshore bank account because some elements of this felt a little hard to believe. But since I know nothing about banking, law enforcement, and have not yet made it big enough with Beach Reads & Bubbly to warrant a Swiss bank account I was blissfully entertained by the plot of this book.

Best paired with a shot of Goldschläger… which I confirmed does have 24K gold swimming in it! If you can’t bank like a billionaire you might as well drink like one!

you’ll love this book if you love:

  • A fast-paced espionage thriller

  • A story full of secrets with a smart(!!) female protagonist
